I’ve been in Cincinnati for three months today.
I’ve learned that my brain works in a significantly different way than most people. I have learned how to interact with people of a different socioeconomic status (the same way I interact with anybody else). I have held the hand of a homeless man during prayer and not noticed that the urine smell was actually emanating from him until someone pointed it out later. I have received things from a food pantry that I cannot actually afford to buy. I am on scholarship at the YMCA because I can’t afford a normal membership. I go to the library once a week, on Fridays. I drink coffee or tea almost everyday because I like the taste. I have had fights with Sisters. I have learned how to knit in the round (sort of). I have purchased my first ever box of wine. I teach. Teaching gives me a headache. I have made friends who don’t actually speak my language. I am in charge. I have learned that I have skills I never realized I had. I grocery shop to relax. I have seen a thief chased down the street by a nun.
it’s been pretty eventful.
