Mairead and I have decided to go out more, to boost morale.
Friday night we went to a bar downtown, where we ended up at a VIP party with Blaine Wilson (and perhaps other olympic gymnasts? he was just the one I recognized and was pointed out by a friend of a friend “OMG that’s blaine wilson he’s short but soooo hot”)and where they gave us each 1/3 of a shot of baileys in a chocolate shotglass. now, I kind of dislike shots greatly but 1/3 of a shot of baileys in a shotglass made of chocolate for free was mighty tasty. Mairead (as per usual) requested Juanes but the DJ did not have him (also, as per usual).
saturday we went to a christmas party of this guy mairead knows from her church group, I had not met him before and actually still don’t remember his name. anthony? andrew? he’s nice and funny and had a darned good party. there was food. the four guys who live in the house made turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, cauliflower broccoli carrot casserole, salad, and rolls. they also had cookies, cranberry sauce, brie and cracked pepper olive oil triscuits. we ate, we drank, we sang christmas carols. the dudes are all music grad students. one opera singer, one tuba player, two french horn. and they have this old organ in their living room you pump with your foot as you play, so we sang carols with organ, tuba, and french horn accompaniment. with operatic overtones. we sounded good. I’m sure the neighbors loved it (who sings christmas carols at one in the morning? is that a tuba? I hate those guys…).
tonight sr carren took us out for an awkward christmas dinner at don pablos where we had mango or raspberry margaritas and fajitas and uncomfortable conversation with the woman who makes our lives exceedingly difficult but then pretends that she’s totally supportive. I have leftovers for lunch tomorrow! my margarita was awesomely tasty! then we watched the office season 2 on dvd.
we feel quite positive about life (although not about going to work tomorrow).
I love that you remembered all the food they had, but not the friend’s name. =)
