I spent the last week back in the hometown for my grandpa’s funeral, which was simultaneously fun and crappy. I love my grandpa. but it was good to see everybody.
readjustment problems:
flushing tp. harder to remember than you might think. I don’t have any problem remembering to flush after every time I use it though, thank goodness!
eating too much. the fruits and vegetables are different here, and in some cases, better. I’ve eaten corn, peas, and leafy greens until I can’t eat any more.
the hellish cold. seriously. I can’t wait to go home to ecuador where my feet will actually be warm again. I feel like I’ve been shivering all week.
speaking english. I’m used to speaking either spanish or spanglish. I kept wanting to throw spanish words into conversation that I say a lot or that are easier to say than their english equivalent. but most would not understand me and I was trying to be tactful with the whole living in ecuador talking about it constantly thing.
owning stuff. and having access to stuff. and being able to get things I didn’t have. I had to check myself and not get all sorts of new things and bring things back to ecuador that I missed and do everything in the states you can possibly do. I did some things. just not all.
i did enjoy seeing people (stephanie’s pregnant! there’s a baby!) and talking to people and visiting with family and not having to make popcorn in a pot on the stove.
